Bastartd Tetris

Finding tetris too easy, not exciting enough.

A new version of tetris has been put together that instead of picking the next piece at random, picks the worse possible piece and then gives you that.

Linux only at present.

Research Write Up

Just as predicted the write up of my research is hard. While I was doing a few other things yesterday my main task was to satrt writting up the reasearch. I know that once I am started it wont be that bad, but I’ve filled a page and a half and still don’t feel like I have started – and it’s not any easier.

The main problem is the structure of the research write up. What order do I put things in. I would hesitate to say that once I have that it would be easier, but it certainly feels like it right now.

Suggestions in a post card please…

Bill Gates In Hell

Bill Gates dies and goes to Hell. Satan greets him and says, “Welcome Mr. Gates, we’ve been waiting for you. This will be your home for all eternity. You’ve been selfish, greedy and a big liar all your life. Now, since you’ve got me in a good mood, I’ll be generous and give you a choice of three places in which you’ll be locked up forever.”

Satan takes Bill to a huge lake of fire in which millions of poor souls are tormented and tortured. He then takes him to a massive coliseum where thousands of people are chased about and devoured by starving lions. Finally, he takes Bill to a tiny room in which there is a bottle of fine wine sitting on a table. To Bill’s delight, he sees a PC in the corner.

Without hesitation, Bill says “I’ll take this option.”

“Fine,” says Satan, allowing Bill to enter the room.

Satan locks the room after Bill. As he turns around, he bumps into Lucifer.

“That was Bill Gates!” cried Lucifer. “Why did you give him the best place of all?”

“That’s what everyone thinks,” snickered Satan. “But the bottle has a hole in it!”

“Why the PC?”, he continued “, “It’s got the latest version of Windows and it’s missing three keys!”

“Which three?” said Lucifer.

“Control, Alt and Delete!”

In the Navey…

Pictures of my brother’s (Ben) passing in parade and are now in the gallery.

For those of you that don’t know he decided to join the Navy, and so last February he traveled down to Plymouth. After 10 weeks of training we all traveled down there to watch (proudly) as became a ’sailor’ in the navy.

Only 3 and a half years until Mum gets rid of my other brother :-)

Review

A bit of a review day today.

Looked over all the work and notes this morning. A further look in the MS web site pulled up a webcast so the first period after lunch was spent watching that. It makes quite good viewing if you have the time and is also a good introduction to Virtual Server 2005.

The rest of the afternoon was in a meeting with a colleague about my progress. This proved to very helpfull in showing some of what I have done and then talking over some of the future ideas. It only showed how far my disseration may have an effect upon the whole company in terms of working practices. There are just so many options and combination of how to do things, that it is going to take me a few days just to work through them all and make sense if it.

Tomorrow a review of the literature that I have gathered to mark the locations of usefull text, and then start to write it all up next week.

Redefining the questionnaire

…working on the accompanying letter, having a look at the MS web site for some writting on testing.

Doesn’t really look like much but trying to get the questionnaire right is proving quite hard. I have a meeting some time today to look through the progress so I will take this oppertunity to get it checked out. I have the feeling that I’m missing some thing but just can’t figure it out. This usually means to things with me, either I have thought of every thing or I am actually missing some thing very big and obvious.

And the MS web site didn’t turn up any thing helpfull. Documents of their web site are either help/reference text, profiles of other companies using MS programs or publicity material. Not much help.

One suggestion was to speak to the testing team manager, while that confirmed what I had learn’t over the past few weeks it didn’t unfortunatly pull up more than the one web page.
