With Apple now moving over to the x86 architecture Windows now joins the lists of operating systems that can run on a Mac. Apple this week released Boot Camp that helps you run install and run Windows in a dual boot setup with Mac OS.
While many people are talking about this one thing struck me from the description of the install – there didn’t seem to be a reinstall Mac OS step.
Previously setting up a dual boot required the removal of the Mac OS partition in order to create the space for another OS (usually a PPC version of Linux), and so a reinstall was required. Simply put there was no way to resize the partition without destroying it.
Apple appear to have finally changed that with the introduction of the Boot Camp.
Not having a Mac (yet…) I don’t have any way to check this out. But some people appear to have been thinking along the same lines as me and have been doing some testing.
